120 years of providing quality eyecare for Australian families
Since 1899, the Merrington family have been providing quality eye vision to Australian families. Dr Peter Merrington and Dr James Merrington are the third and fourth in the Merrington family line (and indeed the 7th and 8th in the Merrington family) to be registered Australian Optometrists.
Dedicated to giving our patients the best quality eyecare available, our wonderful team, along with our unique and extensive experience, has allowed us to provide our loyal patients with the service and care they deserve.
James and Peter always find time at the end of your extensive consultation to carefully explain your situation and they will advise the best way forward for you and any affected family members as well.
Our onsite laboratory ensurers that we can get you your glasses as quickly as possible, with a turn around of 1 hour possible in some cases! Plus our 2,200 frames can ensure you walk away looking your best as well as seeing your best.

About James.
Dr James Merrington is a qualified Optometrist and Ocular Theraputics practioner with 13 years of experience. He studied at UNSW and Melbourne Uni, graduating in 2006 and 2015 respectively.
As well as running multiple practices, James has volunteered in remote hospitals and communities in South Africa, Lesotho and Malawi, helping both look after some of the worlds poorest patients, as well as training their local up and coming Optometrists.

About Peter.
Dr Peter Merrington is a qualified Optometrist and Ocular Theraputics practioner with 49 years of experience. He studied at UNSW, London Hospital and Melbourne Uni, graduating in 1970, 1972 and 2015 respectively.
His extensive optometric experience overseas, as well as in Australia, has meant that Peter has seen many thousands of patients.

OCT Scans
Our incredible OCT will take 3D scans of your eyes, presenting us with detailed images to check for a variety of eye conditions.
Digital Retinal Scans
We have the latest 6 image digital retinal scan that presents clear and important images to check for a variety of eye conditions.
Visual Fields
This test is used to detect areas of vision loss (blind spots) caused by a brain tumor, stroke, glaucoma, diabetes, hypertension, or head trauma. It can also be used to monitor the progression of previously known visual field loss.
